The skin is composed of three main layers: hypodermis, dermis and epidermis. The latter, and specifically its stratum corneum, is the outermost layer and forms a protective barrier made up of cells and epidermal lipids, covered in turn by the hydrolipidic film or acid mantle. We could imagine the skin barrier as a wall: the cells are the bricks while the lipids are the cement that holds them together. Together they act as a barrier to maintain the right level of moisture, softness and firmness in the skin, while helping to keep water from evaporating from within and protecting the skin from microbes and external agents that could irritate and dehydrate it. A barrier that, however, is also permeable and delicate: if these days you notice your skin suddenly inflamed, chapped, sensitive or dry, or affected by acne and skin rashes, it could mean that this protective layer has been compromised.
How to repair this barrier? Discover the Skin Rescue Remedy line, a range of products specifically designed to protect and care for your skin.
NUMEROUS SCIENTIFIC STUDIES

Alterations in skin pH also play a role in the onset of skin disorders such as dermatitis, ichthyosis, acne, fungal infections.
